Ella Jacobson
Ella Jacobson is a cultural critic and creative nonfiction writer from Alaska. Her writing has appeared in The Los Angeles Review of Books, Slate, The Guardian, High Country News, and Real Life, among other publications. Much of her work explores how people metabolize their exposures to violence and death. She earned a Masters in Cultural Reporting and Criticism from the Arthur L. Carter Institute of Journalism at New York University, and she is the recipient of residencies from The Edith Wharton-Straw Dog Guild, Monson Arts, and Elsewhere Studios. Artist Statement
I write genres – often cultural criticism and personal narrative – to explore how people metabolize their exposures to violence, apportion blame, and grieve. My current project, a book of creative nonfiction, expands on these questions and investigates the cultural and social dimensions of accidental killings.
